What We Believe

The Bible

The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It serves as the ultimate authority for faith, doctrine, and practice. The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments are divinely inspired and without error. The Bible is God’s revelation to humanity, providing guidance, wisdom, and truth for all aspects of life.

John 1:1-5

Before the world began, the Word was there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was there with God in the beginning. Everything was made through him, and nothing was made without him. In him there was life, and that life was a light for the people of the world. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not defeated it.

Practical Teaching

We believe that practical, relevant teaching catalyzes transformation in individuals’ lives.

Immersive Worship

We worship because he is worthy of our worship.

Atmosphere of Acceptance

We welcome everyone regardless of age, appearance, clothing, finances, past experiences, life stages, or spiritual background. All people matter to God and ought to matter to us as well. We desire that everyone can experience the grace and love of the Holy Spirit.

Youth Development

We believe that children, teenagers, and young adults grow to know Jesus’s hope and love.

Cultural Relevance

We study and understand our culture to communicate the timeless truths of scripture, especially to those spiritually lost without Jesus.

Spiritual Growth

We challenge the status quo in our Christian lives by studying, praying, practicing, and praising with a receptive hunger that grows deeper every day. We are striving to become apprentices of the greatest rabbi ever, Jesus.

Relational Integrity

Our relationships with staff, leaders, and church family must be unimpaired.

A Spirit of Excellence

We serve an orderly God, and everything we do will be in order and with a spirit of excellence.

Baptism

Baptism at Refresh is done by full immersion, which involves complete submersion in water. This symbolizes purification and spiritual rebirth.

Baby Dedication

We do not baptize babies. Instead, we do baby dedications. Once a child is of age and fully understands and comprehends the importance of baptism, we will then baptize in water.

Communion

The ordinance of Communion is also a commandment of the Lord Jesus that must be received consistently until His return. Only believers can come to the Table of the Lord, which consists of the bread and the cup. The bread – His body, which was broken for us. The cup – His blood that was shed for us. Both elements are witnesses of the New Covenant believers now enjoy while prophetically declaring His soon return.

Healing

Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers.

Resurrection

The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation, together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord, is the imminent and blessed hope of the church.

Trinity

There is one God who exists as three distinct, co-equal, and co-eternal persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.

Salvation

Salvation occurs when one confesses that Jesus is Lord and fully believes in their heart that he has delivered them from their sins by his sacrificial death on the cross.

Matthew 16:16

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
